‘What a terrifying film!’ exclaimed Cindy. Her friend Melissa was staying the night at her house and they (1) both shaking in their shoes after watching a ghost film about a woman (2) being murdered in a graveyard.
‘It scared me out of my wits. I wish we weren’t going to be (3) in the house,’ said Melissa. Cindy’s brother, Donald, had (4) to come and stay while their parents were away but, if she had accepted, he would have teased the (5) about not having the bottle to sleep in the house alone.
‘It was only a film,’ said Cindy. ‘Let’s go up to bed.’ She was putting on a brave face to make Melissa (6) better. Upstairs with all the lights on, they felt a bit better. Although Melissa (7) have liked to share Cindy’s room, she decided to bite the bullet and sleep in the (8) room.
‘It’s time to hit the hay - I’m (9) !’ yawned Cindy. She climbed into (10) and was soon dead to the world.
Despite her nerves, Melissa soon followed suit. Suddenly, she heard a creaking sound (11) made her blood run cold. Then there was a ghostly shriek. ‘Cindy!’ she screamed, (12) out of bed. Cindy had her heart in her mouth when she (13) . Then she saw the wardrobe door opening and a small shape appear. She laughed and said, ‘It’s OK. It’s only the cat from next door!’
